Senior Embedded Software Engineer (C/Linux)

Tammermatic is looking for an experienced software engineer for long-term product development. You will work on embedded software for vehicle wash machines, develop new functions, improve existing machines and solve software defects. An initial project may involve software for truck and bus wash machines, developing and testing a brush-wash module. The preliminary focus of the work is about 60% software development and maintenance for next-generation products, 20% support for the old system and 20% development of the system and development practices. You test software in a simulator and with testers on real machines. The machines are manufactured and tested at the Pirkkala factory, so you can see the results of your work. At times, you investigate the operation of machines in the field with the service team, for example using log data. You can influence software solutions, development ideas and tools. The responsibility is technical; the role does not include managerial or project-manager responsibilities. You will work in a design organisation of about six people alongside user-interface software, automation and mechanical engineering specialists. You will also collaborate with production, testing and service. Colleagues will support you in learning about the products. The role nevertheless requires established software-development skills and independent problem-solving. You can build a long-term expert role working with the company’s own products. The most important qualifications are experience with C programming and the ability to develop a software system independently, practical Linux skills (the environment uses Ubuntu Server), experience working with MySQL or MariaDB databases, and fluent Finnish. You do not need previous knowledge of vehicle wash machines. Your background may be in industrial equipment, mobile machinery or process automation. No particular degree or number of years of work experience is required. Microcontroller or processor programming, frequency converters and using AI tools are useful but not essential. GitHub and Jira are used, but prior knowledge of these tools is not required. The salary range is €4,500–€5,500 per month, depending on your skills and experience. The work offers flexible hybrid arrangements. The usual preference is two to three days per week at the Pirkkala factory; days are agreed according to work needs. Some development and testing require working on site. There are flexible working hours and a working-time bank. Occupational healthcare is provided by Pihlajalinna. You can wash your own car using the factory’s wash machines. Tammermatic is a Finnish manufacturer of vehicle-wash equipment, with a history dating back to 1966. The company designs and manufactures automatic wash equipment for passenger cars and heavy vehicles in Pirkkala, and provides maintenance and other lifecycle services for the equipment.
