The duties of the Siikajoki watershed coordinator include leading the development and improvement of the Siikajoen watershed, broad collaboration with watershed actors, other similar watershed organizations, stakeholders and authorities, compiling information on watershed restoration as a basis for visionary water cooperation and advice, implementing the Siikajoen watershed cooperation agreement by drafting annual and operational plans for the Siikajoki watershed restoration network, preparing and seeking funding for restoration projects according to the plan, procurement procedures and contracting practices related to restoration projects, coordinating and supervising project implementation, and presenting the steering group and project group of the Siikajoki watershed restoration network. The role requires broad practical familiarity with the field, experience with challenging water projects, management of large and long-term project entities, and experience in water management and catchment-area planning. The job requires good IT skills, cooperation, interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills, and resilience. Travel and fieldwork in evenings and weekends, and use of own car are expected. Knowledge of incentive and subsidy systems in the field, experience with project-funded activities and understanding of financial administration are valued. Geospatial competence is an asset for performing the role. Suitable education is a higher education degree in fields such as limnology, biology, environmental sciences or engineering. Excellent Finnish written and spoken skills and good English speaking and writing skills are required. The employment starts on 1.1.2027 and lasts until 31.12.2029, with a 6-month probation.
