About the role

Skydio is seeking a highly motivated Automation / Controls Engineer to design, implement, and support automated manufacturing systems for our drone production lines. This role will focus on integrating and optimizing control systems, robotics, and SCADA platforms to improve throughput, quality, and reliability. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining control systems, programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems (e.g., Ignition), integrating industrial robotics for dispensing, fastening, and soldering, developing system architectures, diagnosing automation issues, collaborating with engineering teams, implementing data collection solutions, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Controls Engineering, 4-5+ years of experience, hands-on experience with SCADA (preferably Ignition), and skills in troubleshooting electromechanical systems, robotics, machine vision, and programming (Python or similar). FAA Part 107 certification is encouraged. Compensation ranges from $147,000 to $240,000 annually, including stock options and benefits.
