The Police Detective role is positioned within the southern field operations area of the Eastern Finland Police Department, in the criminal investigation unit, with placement in Savonlinna. The Detective acts as deputy chief of the Savonlinna Investigation Group, performing a variety of investigations and duties that support the group, and standing in for the group leader when needed. The role includes instruction and leadership responsibilities defined by pre-trial investigation law, and involves routine investigative leadership tasks (Rikos1). You will perform your duties in accordance with police values. The Savonlinna investigation and police operations area is participating in a trial of the universal police model (YPO) through the end of 2026, where surveillance and emergency response, traffic police and criminal investigations staff participate in both criminal investigations and other sector duties. The position holder will also have regular field shifts alongside investigations duties. The continuation of the trial or the establishment of YPO operations will be decided later. The investigation area for Savonlinna city and surroundings covers basically all offenses and miscellaneous matters within the area’s jurisdiction.
