A permanent early childhood education social services professional position is available at Syynimaa Daycare Centre. Syynimaa Daycare Centre is located in the peaceful Syynimaa residential area. Its large yard offers excellent opportunities for a variety of outdoor activities. The forest yard behind the fence provides good opportunities to expand the outdoor area for groups on a rotating basis. The daycare centre has three child groups. At the start of employment, the early childhood education social services professional will be placed in Aamurusko, a group for children under three years old. The role brings community, societal and social-pedagogical perspectives into pedagogical work. The work requires knowledge of the Early Childhood Education Act, regulations, and the national and Oulu City early childhood education and pre-primary education curricula. The work supports children’s overall development. It is based on a client-oriented approach and equal treatment of children and families with respect and fairness. Duties include individual guidance for children, cooperation with parents and monitoring children’s wellbeing together with the early childhood education teacher and the rest of the early childhood education team. Eligibility is governed by section 27 of the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018), taking into account applicants covered by the transitional provision concerning personnel in section 75 of that Act. The qualification required for an early childhood education social services professional is at least a university of applied sciences degree in social services and health care, including at least 60 credits of studies focused on early childhood education and social pedagogy, which may be specified in more detail by government decree, or a social services degree supplemented by those studies. The position requires good interaction and interpersonal skills with children, families and staff, as well as the ability to understand the different circumstances of client families and staff. The role also requires the ability to work in a team and in pairs. The task-specific salary is €2,866.22–€2,961.73 according to the pay-level system and the levels of competence and responsibility. Actual pay consists of the task-specific salary and any other pay supplements under KVTES. Before accepting the position, the selected candidate must present a criminal records extract under the Act on the Background Checks of Persons Working with Children (504/2002). Under section 55 of the Communicable Diseases Act, the employer must require the employee and trainee/student to provide reliable evidence before starting work that they do not have respiratory tuberculosis. This evidence must be provided before the employment contract is signed. The position has a six-month probationary period.
