Electrical Engineer

Freelance Electrical Engineer sought for a major High Voltage (HV) Substation project in the Netherlands. The role is on-site with hybrid/site-based working arrangement. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, review, and delivery of HV substation engineering activities across the project lifecycle, working closely with clients, EPC contractors, and key stakeholders to ensure technical excellence and compliance with industry standards. The candidate will prepare and review HV substation design documentation, deliver primary and/or secondary design for AIS and GIS substations, support equipment selection and technical evaluations, review vendor documentation for IEC/TenneT compliance, participate in design reviews, provide engineering support during construction, testing, energisation, and commissioning, and identify and resolve technical issues. Requirements include a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; strong HV substation project experience; background in primary/secondary design; understanding of protection & control systems, IEC 61850, transformers, switchgear, and earthing systems; experience with utilities, TSOs/DSOs, EPC contractors or renewable grid connection projects; ability to work independently; fluent English essential; Dutch language skills advantageous.
