Site Engineer

Terramare Oy builds the Nordic marine environment responsibly and with respect for nature. Terramare is a specialist force in heavy marine construction, focused on quality and keeping to schedules, using collaboration and ambition as its tools. We are now looking for a Site Engineer to strengthen our expertise in demanding marine and harbour construction projects. As a Site Engineer, you play an important role in ensuring projects progress according to plan and to a high standard, without compromising safety or cost efficiency. Your work takes place mainly on projects in Finnish coastal cities (with work starting at Helsinki’s West Harbour), but sites may also take you to Sweden, Norway or the Baltic countries. The role is strongly site-based and requires readiness to travel. Typically, you will have around 150–200 travel days per year. At Terramare, you will work on projects not found at every construction company. We offer you: - Demanding and technically interesting marine and harbour construction projects - The opportunity to work with specialist equipment and methods in the field - Support from experienced water-construction professionals - Responsibility and the opportunity to develop your expertise - The chance to join international projects in the Nordic countries and, if you wish, elsewhere in the world - A stable and respected employer - A straightforward, practical work community Responsibilities: - Managing site documentation (quality, safety, environment, finances, meetings, measurements and subcontractor monitoring) - Supporting the project manager, site manager and supervisors in operational project management - Preparing and monitoring site procurements - Cooperating and coordinating with subcontractors - Planning site schedules together with the site manager - Quality assurance and monitoring and guiding work to ensure it follows the plans - Cooperating with the client, designers and other project stakeholders - Ensuring site safety and implementing safety measures - Preparing work-phase and status reports We expect from you: - Construction-sector education (Bachelor of Engineering from a university of applied sciences or construction manager) - Previous experience in Site Engineer duties - Experience in demanding infrastructure construction projects (e.g. concrete work, piling, excavation and earthworks) - Good organisational skills and an understanding of cost control - Fluent Finnish and English; Swedish is considered an advantage - Good IT skills and the ability to adopt and use modern project-management and documentation systems - Flexibility, resilience under pressure and the ability to work in changing conditions - A desire to learn and develop in your work - An active, safety- and quality-conscious approach to work - The ability to lead people and get others working toward shared goals - Good communication skills with different stakeholders Our recruitment process: Academic Work is managing this recruitment on behalf of its client, who requests that all questions about the role be directed to Academic Work.
