HUS is seeking a permanent Ward Manager for the Meilahti Emergency Ward. The role involves leading a demanding acute care unit that provides emergency hospital care for adult patients in close cooperation with the joint emergency department and various specialties. As the immediate supervisor of the nursing staff, you are responsible for managing the unit's operations, personnel, finances, and the quality of nursing care in close collaboration with the chief physician. Key responsibilities include leading staff competence, well-being, and success; managing daily operations goal-orientedly; ensuring nursing quality and patient safety; planning personnel resources; and developing operations using data-driven management principles. The ideal candidate is a development-oriented and solution-focused leader who builds trust, strengthens a psychologically safe culture, leads change participatively, and promotes continuous learning. Experience in acute care, supervisory work, and evidence of operational development in changing environments is valued. Good interaction, cooperation, and IT skills are essential. Requirements
- Suitable higher education degree and relevant experience, or suitable management and administration studies and relevant experience, or previously approved ward manager qualification and relevant experience
- Licensed healthcare professional
- Good oral and written skills in Finnish and satisfactory oral and written skills in Swedish (or vice versa)
- Vaccination protection according to the Communicable Diseases Act
- Health certificate regarding pulmonary tuberculosis
