We are seeking an experienced and warm-hearted early childhood educator for a permanent position at Havukallion day care center, starting 1 September 2026. Havukallion is located in a nature-rich, forested residential area with good transport links. We value nature as an integral part of children’s learning environment and make use of the local surroundings in our activities. The area’s multiculturalism enriches our daily life and brings diverse perspectives and cultures into our work. Havukallion operates five group rooms. The facilities have recently been renovated, so you will work in updated spaces and, together with other staff, help build effective and inspiring learning environments. Our aim is to meet every child with warmth, to support their individuality, strengths, and to encourage and praise. Play is central to our activities, as is the child’s participation, interests and wonder. Our pedagogy focuses on supporting emotional and social skills as well as language development. We want every child to have the opportunity to learn, try, and succeed in a safe atmosphere. The pedagogy of each group is supported by a broad-based early childhood special education teacher and a development teacher. Our unit also uses the ProVaka operating model (Positive learning in small groups in early childhood education). You will be part of a capable professional community and receive support from the team. The unit also serves as a field day kindergarten for student teachers in early childhood education, so you may have the opportunity to mentor and share professional expertise with future professionals. What we expect from you: a sensitive, warm approach to children, good collaboration and teamwork skills, flexibility, development-mindedness and the desire to build high-quality pedagogy with the rest of the staff. Strong Finnish language speaking and writing skills are required. If you are a cooperative, open and development-minded early childhood professional who wishes to work for the best interests of children with a capable team, you may be our new colleague. We will review applications and start interviews during the application period. The position may be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found. Why choose Vantaa? Vantaa is a brave and relaxed employer offering an open work climate and opportunities to try new working methods. You will be supported by a broad multi-professional network and collaboration around you. Read more and hear from Vantaa’s early childhood professionals. You will get: mentoring group support for the first year, good opportunities for professional development, a safe and equal work environment, opportunities to influence through the leadership team, a variety of staff benefits including sports and culture benefits, lunch benefit, and commute allowance for public transport. The city also offers discounts for cultural events. Vantaa pays relocation support of 1500 euros for those moving from outside the immediate metro area after six months of permanent employment for early childhood teachers, special education teachers and day care directors.
