Job Description
The City of Kotka's early childhood education is seeking a fixed-term early childhood education assistant for sudden support needs for the period 1.9.2026 - 30.4.2027. The position is full-time day work, 38.25 h/week. Early childhood education in Kotka, including pre-primary education, serves approximately 1,570 children. In everyday life, these qualities are utilized in professional teamwork, guiding children, and supporting their interaction, communication, and independence. The work requires an understanding of the importance of teamwork in implementing development and learning support, as well as knowledge of support methods as part of the children's group activities. There are 19 daycares in Kotka's early childhood education. The work requires good interaction skills, flexibility, and solution-oriented thinking. The position has a qualification requirement for an early childhood education assistant according to the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018 § 28) and the Government Decree on Early Childhood Education (753/2018). The position requires a health certificate regarding respiratory tuberculosis in accordance with Section 55 of the Communicable Diseases Act. A tuberculosis questionnaire is completed by the applicant during the application phase. The questionnaire and interpretation guidelines prepared by the Finnish Occupational Healthcare (Työterveyslaitos) are used. Degree and work certificates as well as a CV are requested from those invited to an interview. Interviews may begin during the application period. A four (4) month probationary period applies to the position. Before the selection is confirmed, the selected person must present an extract in accordance with the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002).
