Unit Manager – High-Need Foster Care

We are seeking a Unit Manager for demanding foster care units in Oulainen and Pikku-Oulaisten Kuntola. Both units are intensive care facilities for children and youths aged 8–17, located near each other. Oulaisten Kuntola houses seven places and Pikku-Oulaisten Kuntola four. We specialise in acute psych-neuropsychiatric care, focusing on psychological and functional rehabilitation. Our staffing is high to ensure individualized, safe interaction with children and youths. The primary goal is stable, functional everyday life under adult leadership for the children and youths. We do not treat children or youths with substance abuse or criminal offences. In the role of Unit Manager you will lead the children’s and youths’ upbringing, care and rehabilitation jointly with your team. The position requires presence in the units and active participation in day-to-day leadership. You may have a social services degree (sosionomi or social work), nursing, occupational therapy or other social/health/educational higher education relevant to child protection. We require experience in child protection work, competence in developmental disability or psychiatric work and at least two years of supervisory experience. We value a positive and encouraging work approach and the ability to guide the team decisively, handling difficult situations when necessary. You will notice achievements, encourage staff development and excel in interpersonal relations and people contact. Three similar coordinators work at Oulaisten Kuntola with whom you will steer the day-to-day life of the units together.
