Our main area of operation is specialist healthcare within the HUS Group and primary healthcare in the wellbeing services counties that belong to HUS. We are also responsible for laboratory and imaging services in the Kymenlaakso and South Karelia wellbeing services counties. We operate in eight medical specialties. Nationwide, we are responsible for several examinations requiring specialist expertise, as well as research and teaching associated with a university hospital. Diagnostic examinations play a key role in confirming and ruling out diseases, supporting treatment, monitoring care and screening. HUS Diagnostic Center employs approximately 3,300 laboratory and imaging professionals at more than 150 locations. We are seeking an Assistant Head Nurse for a permanent position at HUS Helsinki University Hospital. Your base will be the HUSLAB Clinical Chemistry Laboratory at Ratamokeskus in Kouvola. You can start on 1 December 2026 or earlier by agreement. As Assistant Head Nurse, you will have a laboratory technologist or biomedical laboratory scientist background and experience in clinical chemistry and preanalytics. Together with the head nurse, you will plan and develop evidence-based clinical laboratory work carried out by staff, ensuring that clients receive safe, high-quality laboratory services. You will participate in daily management alongside the head nurse and also take part in clinical work. A possible experience-based increment of up to eight per cent of the role-specific salary will be taken into account. The Diagnostic Center also uses performance-based pay, which gives you the opportunity to increase your monthly earnings. Eligibility requirements A suitable higher university degree and relevant experience; or a suitable lower university degree complemented by relevant management or administration studies, either as additional studies or included in the degree, and relevant experience; or previously approved qualifications as a head nurse and relevant experience; or an institute-level qualification in the field complemented by management or administration studies and relevant experience. In addition, you must be a licensed healthcare professional. The language requirement is good spoken and written Finnish and satisfactory spoken and written Swedish, or good spoken and written Swedish and satisfactory spoken and written Finnish. Employees working in customer and patient facilities must have vaccination protection in accordance with the Communicable Diseases Act. Employees working in healthcare units must provide a health assessment concerning pulmonary tuberculosis.
