We are seeking a social worker from 1 January 2027 for a permanent post in open care, substitute care and aftercare for minors in the Hollola team. Our work focuses on Hollola, Kärkölä and western Lahti, but when necessary our working area covers all of Päijät-Häme. In child welfare open care, substitute care and aftercare for minors, you will act as the social worker responsible for the child’s case. Our goal is for the child and family to receive sufficient support and services during our work together; you will be responsible for planning and organising them. We work according to a systemic approach, and a family therapist participates in the multidisciplinary weekly teams. The child welfare teams consist of a lead social worker, social workers, social counsellors and family workers. Pair work is possible. We aim to enable you to focus on what matters most: handling the child’s case. To support this, adult clients in families with children are served by a separate adult team. Administrative secretary support is also available. Leased cars can be used in carrying out work duties. At present, remote work is possible one or two days a week. We expect you to have expertise in social work and child welfare, good interaction skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a work community, and the ability to work in a planned and goal-oriented way to promote the child’s best interests. In addition to the general eligibility requirements, you must be qualified as a social worker under Act 817/2015 on Social Welfare Professionals. Before taking up the post, you must present a criminal-record extract under Act 504/2002 on checking the criminal background of people working with children and young people. Experience in child welfare social work is considered an advantage. Our working language is Finnish, so we require fluent spoken and written Finnish (B1 level). If there are no applicants who meet the eligibility requirements, the position may be filled temporarily for up to one year by a person studying for the social worker profession who has successfully completed the basic and subject studies in social work and practical training. A student in the profession means a person studying for a social worker degree who is enrolled at the university from which they will graduate as a social worker. In addition, the position may be filled temporarily for up to one year by a person who has completed a suitable university degree in social sciences or a university of applied sciences degree in social and health care, including or supplemented by the basic and subject studies in social work and practical training. Practical training may be replaced by sufficient practical experience and professional skills. You are important to us, which is why we provide comprehensive occupational healthcare services and employee benefits to support your wellbeing at work. As a member of our work community, you will receive: - A work community proud of its profession and an encouraging atmosphere that helps keep motivation up - Support in combining working life smoothly with everyday life; we participate in the Family-Friendly Workplace programme of the Family Federation of Finland - Occupational healthcare services and the health application included with them We offer holiday benefits, work community events and recreation days. Every employee is a member of the employee association Pähe ry. Pähe has several leisure-time groups, from choir to floorball, and it often succeeds in negotiating discounted tickets to local events and discounts on various services. Let your story continue in Päijät-Häme. Welcome to our skilled team!
