Social Instructor

We are seeking a substitute social instructor for the period 1.9.2026-31.3.2027, to work with youth aged 12-17 and early adolescents aged 10-12 and their families in the intensive family work of child protection. Intensive family work in child protection is a fixed-term open care support measure organized based on Section 36 of Chapter 7 of the Child Welfare Act. The work is planned and goal-oriented. At its center are the protection of the child, the rehabilitation of the family, supporting the child's growth and development, and strengthening parenthood. The work is aimed at both individuals and the family as a whole. The youth intensive family work group began its operations in 2024. The group consists of 15 social instructors, and the supervisor is a leading social instructor. The service is provided for the entire Helsinki area. The work is multi-site and mobile. The group's office space is located in Herttoniemi on Laivalahdenkatu. Intensive family work is goal-oriented, planned and rehabilitative work aimed at strengthening parenthood, the family's functioning capacity and the interaction between family members. In work with youth, challenges in schooling, mental health and substance use, neuropsychiatric special features and challenging behavior are emphasized. The work is usually done in the family's home as a pair, in close cooperation with the family's own network and other professionals. The work is based on goals jointly drawn up by the family, the social worker and the employees. The service is implemented using a systemic approach, feedback-informed FIT work and other evidence-based methods. Youth intensive family work includes meetings with the youth, parents and the whole family together. You will also be able to operate in multidisciplinary cooperation networks. Working hours are 38.15 hours per week at times according to the needs of the client families, between 7 am and 8 pm, occasionally also on weekends. Tasks begin at the beginning of September. Interviews are conducted during the application period. Eligibility requirement: University of Applied Sciences degree suitable for the social field (Sosionomi) in accordance with the Act on Social Care Professionals 817/2015 (Section 8). Registration in Valvira's central register of professionals is required for the position. Language skill requirement is good oral and satisfactory written skill in Finnish. Before the selection decision, the applicant must present an occupational health care assessment of their ability to perform the tasks included in the work. The entry check for the work includes, among other things, a drug test. A criminal record extract is required for the position (Act on the investigation of the criminal background of persons working with children 504/2002). Vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis investigation according to Section 55 are required for the position. In addition, we require: - experience working with families and youth - an approach that values and respects clients - ability for a reflective approach to work - good interaction and cooperation skills - initiative and community-directedness - a development-oriented and resource-centered approach to work.
