About the role

Overview Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I Commissioning Manager you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. As a group, CO+I is focused on the personal and professional development of all employees and offers trainings and opportunities including Career Rotation Programs, Diversity & Inclusion trainings and events, and professional certifications. As Microsoft continues to expand its datacenter footprint and accelerate capacity delivery across the EMEA region, we are seeking three Commissioning Managers to join our growing team in Helsinki, Finland. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to some of Microsoft's most strategic infrastructure projects, working at the forefront of cloud technology and helping shape the future of Microsoft's global cloud infrastructure. You will work with data centre architects, engineers, construction managers, network engineers, data centre operations teams and finance teams to streamline and improve data centre capacity delivery. You will execute against scope, schedule, and budget to deliver the latest generation of data centre technology to Microsoft’s Online Services. You will be responsible for ensuring the project is commissioned in accordance with Microsoft's standards and directly manage the process for projects in EMEA Region. Responsibilities Primary responsibility for Helsinki, Finland & EMEA region commissioning projects. Create and/or maintain best practices to identify and incorporate quality and cost-effective solutions. Manage the contracted Commissioning Agent assigned to Data Center construction projects. Construction site inspections to review QA/QC and commissioning process. Drive the project Commissioning process including scope and schedule. Communications Regularly reviews Construction Progress, QA/QC, Commissioning progress, issues, and KPI metrics to report to management. Coordinate meetings and activities of vendor project managers including integration of lessons learned. Manage client representatives and partners to define and align on scope, schedule, and budget. Attend scheduled owner/architect/contractor (OAC) and other project meetings, and report as necessary. Report Project Progress on scope, schedule, and budget weekly or as required. Accountability Responsible for developing, managing, and reporting on scope, schedule of the Commissioning Process Projects. Reporting of the Commissioning process to management on a regular basis. Strategy and Development Manage data center commissioning project delivery strategy in alignment with the road map strategy. Refine practices/policies and develop methods/techniques for driving solutions including development of commissioning procedures. Provides input into a long-term delivery strategy and incorporates requirements into the project execution plans. Vendor Management and contract compliance Provide Vendor oversight and performance management (Scorecard driven). Preparation of RFP’s and other project approval tools & templates. Qualifications Relevant technical engineering experience or any of the following OR Bachelor's OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field Experience in Data Center facility maintenance, operation, construction and/or commissioning Considerable experience with Mechanical OR Electrical Test Equipment Strong proficiency in written, spoken and technical English, as all business operations and stakeholder communications are conducted in English Background Check Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications: Commissioning Certification OSHA 10 or higher qualification NFPA-70E Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
