Secondary school teaching assistant

Loviisa is a charming coastal bilingual town characterized by small-town idyll. The municipality has 12 primary schools and two high schools with about 150 teachers and 50 pupil welfare assistants. Harjurinteen School, the largest in Loviisa, has about 530 students across pre-school, grades 1–9, and special classes. Are you interested in a training assistant position? We are seeking a substitute trainee for Harjurinteen school for grades 7–9 for the period 14 September to 22 December 2026. We offer an interesting and varied role among pleasant youths. The Loviisa educational services emphasize linguistic awareness and support for learning and schooling. Loviisa operates under the UNICEF Child-Friendly Municipality model. We are looking for a person who is motivated to work with adolescents in early adolescence. As a training assistant you work with a pair and independently as well as together with a school youth worker and a welfare tutor. You will collaborate closely with student welfare services, teachers, and other staff. A training assistant is a safe adult who is present in the pupils’ school day and supports them early on. Through preventive work and early intervention, the training assistant maintains and supports pupils’ well-being at school. The role includes working with pupils during breaks and performing guiding tasks in lessons. As a training assistant you provide youths with the presence of an adult during the school day above all. We expect you to have experience working with young people, collaboration skills, initiative, and suitability for the role. Training assistant or youth work education is an advantage. Working hours: 30 h/week. Salary: 2561.01 €/month, of which 78.43% of a full-time pay is paid plus possible seniority allowances. The city is a smoke-free workplace.
