About the role

The Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county is strengthening its child welfare institutional care services and opening two new units in Veikkola, Kirkkonummi, forming the Lamminjärvi children's home. Both units have 7 special-level places for children aged 13-17. One of the units specializes in caring for children with severe substance abuse symptoms and the other for children with severe psychological symptoms. In addition to the child welfare service manager acting as the unit supervisor, the staff will consist of UAS-level instructors, a registered nurse, basic-degree level instructors, and a shared occupational therapist for the units. We also employ a cook-food service worker who takes care of the units' catering, and cleaning services are responsible for cleaning, so the care and education staff can focus on the care and education tasks of the children. We are now seeking a child welfare service manager for a new permanent position in the unit for children with severe psychological symptoms. The child welfare service manager acts as the person in charge of the child welfare institution as defined in the Child Welfare Act in their own unit and is responsible for the care and education work of the children placed in the unit, including its various elements. The service manager is responsible for deciding on and implementing restrictive measures in accordance with the Child Welfare Act in their unit, as well as delegation, and is responsible for the implementation of medication treatment in the unit. The service manager's duties also include care and education tasks for children as part of the unit's staffing. The child welfare service manager is the supervisor of their team's staff, and the self-monitoring of the unit staff's well-being at work is an essential part of the job description. The child welfare service manager plans their own shifts to meet the needs of the unit. The working time format is period work, which enables joint planning of the work of service managers in different units so that possibly one of the service managers is at work and systematically reachable to support employees also on weekends. The child welfare service manager participates in the management team work of their own service and in the development of work at the wellbeing services county level together with service managers of other institutional care units and the child welfare service supervisor. Child welfare service managers also have their own joint supervisory group guidance for supervisors. To succeed in the position, you will have close collegial support and the support of your supervisor. Eligibility requirements: A higher education degree suitable for the position in accordance with Section 46 a, paragraph 3 of the Social Welfare Act. The position requires leadership skills demonstrated in practical work and/or education, as well as work experience in child welfare foster care. Additionally, a customer-respecting work attitude, network work skills, excellent interaction skills, decision-making and pressure tolerance, good oral and written Finnish language skills, documentation skills, and a development-oriented work approach are required. Performing the duties also requires a driver's license and driving skills. The person selected for the position must present a criminal record extract as referred to in Section 6.2 of the Criminal Records Act. The person selected for the position will be asked randomly for a drug test in accordance with the Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county's substance abuse program. Work experience as a unit manager as well as experience in development tasks and change management are considered an advantage.
