The faculty trains bachelor of technology, master of science in technology, subject teachers of technology and doctors of technology with a strong natural science background. The faculty's role at the forefront of Tampere University's research is significant. Experimental, theoretical and computational research is conducted in the faculty. Job Description We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are interested in university-level robotics teaching and also in research. The focus of the teaching is robotics technologies, including robotics theory, robot design and manufacturing, and robot software design. In the teaching work, electronics development platforms such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi as well as various commercial industrial and collaborative robots are used. For simulation and (offline) programming of systems, we use various robotics software. We utilize various robot manufacturers' own applications as well as open source middleware such as ROS2. Experience with these is an advantage. The teaching is supported by high-quality micro-classrooms and distance learning systems, such as Moodle. The selected person will teach future experts at Tampere University's Hervanta campus as part of the robotics teachers' community. Modern teaching and research environments are available. Employees are encouraged to actively develop their skills and this is supported, for example, in the form of university pedagogical training offered by the employer. The university teacher's job description is teaching-oriented. The weighting of teaching tasks can partially take into account the person's background. In addition, the tasks include active participation in the administration and development of teaching and the coordination of laboratory work. The tasks also include the supervision of robotics theses and the organization of teaching seminars. Requirements The position of university teacher requires a master's degree (diplomi-insinööri) or a doctorate in technology in automation engineering, mechanical engineering or another suitable field and good teaching skills. In filling the position, practical experience in robotics (design, simulation and programming), previous teaching experience and the ability to produce teaching materials and provide teaching in a versatile manner are valued. We require good Finnish language skills from the applicant. The ability to provide high-quality teaching and supervise theses in Finnish and, if necessary, in English. Success in the position also requires good organizational and cooperation skills. For the teaching-oriented position, the selected candidates are required to have at least 10 ECTS of university pedagogical studies, or equivalent studies. If the selected person has not completed these studies at the start of the employment relationship, the studies must be completed within two years of the start of the employment relationship. We Offer The position is filled permanently starting September 1, 2026, or by agreement. There is a six-month probationary period in the position. Remuneration is based on the demandingness of the tasks and personal performance at work according to the university salary system. The university teacher position is at the demandingness levels 5-6 for teaching and research staff. In addition, a salary component based on personal performance at work is paid.
