Senior/Lead Designer

We are strengthening our naval design capabilities and are looking for experienced deck outfitting designers. We are now seeking a senior or lead designer for deck outfitting in Turku or in Vantaa. In this role You will advance Finnish shipbuilding expertise. You can influence how we develop our ways of working. You will work on demanding shipbuilding projects together with shipyard clients. Your experience is valuable: you will share your knowledge and support your colleagues’ development in deck outfitting. You will have the backing of Etteplan’s broad engineering expertise and network when solutions require other expertise. Main responsibilities Perform hands-on design work and own your own deck outfitting package. Coordinate solutions with the main design, equipment suppliers and shipyard production. You are responsible for the technical progression of the design and, if needed, you will guide other designers. Work mainly at Etteplan’s Turku or Vantaa offices or at the client’s premises. Remote work may be partially possible, and travel may be involved. Skills and experience Several years of experience in deck outfitting design for ships. Engineering degree or DI in a relevant field. Strong proficiency with AVEVA E3D, CADMATIC or comparable ship design software and AutoCAD. Experience as lead designer or systems owner and willingness to do hands-on design work. Solve problems independently and support colleagues. Fluent Finnish and English and a customer-service mindset, as communication with the yard and client is a central part of the work. Nice to have Familiarity with deck outfitting regulations: SOLAS and LSA codes, classification society rules for anchoring, mooring and lifting equipment, IACS standards, and winterization rules (Finnish-Swedish ice class rules, IACS Polar Class) and winterization rules. Technical competence is important, but so is how you work. You serve the customer, find solutions in difficult situations, leverage colleagues’ expertise and justify your choices clearly. Your pay reflects your knowledge and contribution to Etteplan’s ways of working. In this role, a typical monthly salary is 4000–5100 EUR/month. If your experience is somewhat different, we may consider a designer role with a lower pay level.
