Quality Manager / Researcher
Job description
We are looking for a full-time, permanent Quality Manager / Researcher for the Vantaa laboratory. In this varied combined role, you will act as Quality Manager for the Vantaa laboratory and work as a researcher in our asbestos and fibre laboratory. Its services include asbestos analyses of material, air and dust samples, as well as analyses of indoor-air fibres and dust.
Our Vantaa unit offers both our own laboratory analysis services and the extensive, high-quality range of analysis services provided by the laboratories in our group, mainly for the environmental and built-environment sectors. Our customers include private- and public-sector project management and expert organisations, as well as contractors. We invest in excellent customer service and long-term customer relationships, reflected in close and regular communication with our customers.
Your duties
You will act as Quality Manager for the Vantaa laboratory, responsible for maintaining and developing the quality system and continuously ensuring quality. Your duties include coordinating audits, managing quality documents, handling complaints and customer investigations, monitoring and reporting quality, developing the laboratory’s quality practices, and onboarding personnel.
In addition to the Quality Manager responsibilities, you will work as a researcher in the asbestos and fibre laboratory. Your duties include preparing and analysing samples, reporting results, customer service, and tasks related to quality control and equipment and instrument maintenance. You will work closely every day with laboratory specialists and other departments. You will be supported by a skilled and professional team, experts in our international organisation, and modern IT systems and solutions.
The role offers a unique opportunity to work in both quality management and practical laboratory work. You can deepen your expertise in laboratory analysis, environmental research and quality management, and grow your expertise as part of an international expert community. Our customers’ varied projects and investigation requests bring variety and interesting challenges, and you can participate in developing laboratory operations.
What we expect from you
We require relevant education at university of applied sciences or university level, for example as a laboratory analyst, chemist or geologist. Success in the role requires a careful and accurate approach, the ability to manage several matters simultaneously, and readiness to work independently, proactively and responsibly. We value systematic working, good collaboration skills, and fluent Finnish and English. Basic user-level IT skills, including Microsoft Office programs, and readiness to learn new systems are also required.
We value previous laboratory experience, knowledge of construction materials, and experience with SEM-EDS and GC-MSD analysis methods. Experience with an ISO 17025 quality system or quality-management duties is considered an advantage. We also value an interest in developing laboratory operations and continuous improvement.
As a person, you are positive, responsible and customer-oriented. You work effectively within set schedules, maintain accuracy even when busy, and are able to make decisions and move matters forward. You see challenges as opportunities for development and take an active role in improving operations.
What we offer
We offer the opportunity to work in a respected, international and developing company, with support from a skilled and professional team and pleasant colleagues and customers. You will work at the forefront of the laboratory sector, build networks in the field and take part in varied and interesting duties. You will also have the opportunity to influence the development of laboratory quality and operations. You can challenge yourself and develop both as a laboratory professional and as a quality-management expert.
Employee satisfaction at work is important to us. We follow the collective agreement for salaried employees in private laboratories. Daily working time is 7.5 hours; work takes place on weekdays between 7:00 and 22:00 in two shifts.
The position starts in November or by agreement. The application period runs until 31 October 2026, but the position may also be filled as soon as a suitable person is found.
