Kilkanen Oy seeks an experienced CAM programming professional for a new specialist role to influence how turning is done more efficiently and productively. The role goes beyond programming CNC machines; you will actively participate in developing manufacturing methods and understand turning as a whole, leveraging CAM systems to maximize production output even before the first cut. You will be responsible for programming CNC machines and developing machining methods, with the aim of concentrating programming more with CAM experts so that machinists can focus on their core tasks. You’ll review the manufacturing process as a whole before machining begins, design efficient production solutions, develop machining methods, and identify opportunities to improve machine capacity, productivity and smoothness of production. You will work closely with production and ensure CAM software capabilities are used effectively in practice, acting as a key link between programming and production and contributing to the continuous improvement of operating procedures. EdgeCAM is in use, and our machine fleet includes Mazak and Hyundai machining centers and Fanuc controls. We expect a skilled and development-oriented expert with strong practical turning experience and deep understanding of machining processes and how programming and method development can impact production efficiency. You should be adept at exploiting CAM software features broadly and challenge current practices to improve manufacturing methods, fixturing solutions and programming practices. EdgeCAM proficiency is a definite asset; experience with other CAM systems and the ability to exploit software features broadly for production development is valued. You will need Finnish and English language skills, as daily work involves collaborating with colleagues who speak Finnish and English. Salary is discussed individually based on experience and expertise. You will primarily work at our Vaasa campus at Reininkatu; standard working hours are 8:00–16:00 with flexible hours, and after onboarding there is also potential for hybrid work.
