Process Safety Engineer

We are looking for a Process Safety Engineer for the Jämsänkoski factory to ensure that our operations meet the highest process and chemical safety standards today and in the future. In this versatile expert role you will influence the plant’s safety culture, risk management and ways of working. You will work closely with production, maintenance, technical experts, authorities and other stakeholders and play a central role in promoting safe and responsible operations. You will develop process- and chemical-safety practices and related operating methods; coordinate key processes of the Process Safety Management (PSM) system and improvement actions; oversee investigations and reporting of accidents, incidents and near-misses; lead Management of Change (MOC) processes for technical changes; support safe commissioning and risk management as part of production development; serve as chemical usage controller and contribute to chemical safety development; design and implement training for personnel on process and chemical safety; participate in risk assessments, safety analyses and define improvement actions; collaborate with authorities, internal stakeholders and external experts; promote energy efficiency and participate in audits and continuous improvement projects; support and develop production performance through process development. The candidate should have a university-level degree in chemical engineering, process engineering or another technical field; knowledge of process, chemical or occupational safety requirements and practices; experience from an industrial production environment or process industry; ability to identify risks and develop safe operating methods; analytical and systematic working approach; good collaboration and communication skills with different stakeholders; willingness to train, guide and support the organization on safety matters; fluent Finnish and English; ability to drive development projects forward independently and determinedly.
