This vacancy is for a permanent civil service position in Helsinki, within the Environmental Protection and Guidance – Environmental Impact Assessment team of the Environmental Services unit. The team is responsible for expert tasks related to environmental impact assessments in regional land-use planning, expertise in ecological compensation, preparation and monitoring of the city’s air protection plan, noise studies, and noise reduction plans, as well as tasks promoting sustainable mobility and low-emission transport. Key duties include coordinating the preparation, implementation, and reporting of noise studies and noise reduction plans under the Helsinki City Environmental Protection Act; contributing to the development and promotion of the city’s sound environment including international cooperation; and performing noise-related environmental impact assessments, identifying environmental effects of projects and plans, and drafting statements. The position favors experience in municipal environmental protection tasks, knowledge of traffic-related environmental impacts, and familiarity with city decision-making and development tasks.
