The work is paid work under the private social services sector collective agreement and suits those seeking full-time, part-time, occasional or gig work. As a personal assistant you can decide how much and when you work, so the job also fits alongside another job or studies. You do not need any special training for the role; the right attitude and reliability are the most important qualities of an excellent personal assistant. At Aarre Avustajat you will receive continuous support and guidance from your own contact person, and you will never be left alone with your questions or matters. What is a personal assistant and what does the assistant do? Personal assistance is a service in which the personal assistant acts as the hands and feet of the client, carrying out tasks the client would do themselves but cannot do alone due to disability or illness. The goal is to help the client with everyday tasks at home and outside. Assistant tasks are often ordinary chores we all perform in everyday life. The work does not include tasks requiring, for example, a nurse’s degree; anyone can work as an assistant. Tasks include helping the client in stores, during outdoor activities, eating or cooking, dressing, hobbies or domestic chores. What kind of person is suited to be an assistant? We have found from our experience that the best suited are people with the right attitude towards meaningful assistance work. You do not need previous similar work experience, as every new assistant is trained in a comprehensive orientation at Aarre Academy before starting work. Experience or education in care and assistance can be beneficial for some clients. What shifts are offered and can I influence them? Personal assistance is a service that takes place on weekdays and weekends, and shifts are often available from morning to evening. At Aarre Avustajat you can influence how much and when you want to work and what kind of client you work for. We aim to match our clients’ assistant needs with our assistants’ work preferences so that it suits everyone. You can always meet a potential new client before starting the client relationship, and if you feel something does not work as you thought, we can search for a suitable alternative together.
