About the role

Merus Power Oyj is a technology company founded in 2008 that supports the transition to sustainable energy. We design and manufacture innovative electrical engineering solutions such as energy storages, power quality solutions and services. With scalable technology, we enable growth of renewable energy in power networks and improve energy efficiency in society. We are a domestic, innovative power electronics specialist operating on global and rapidly growing markets. Our 2025 revenue was €54.6 million and we currently employ over 160 people with internationally recognized engineering expertise. We are now expanding our hardware team with a Power Electronics Hardware Engineer who will focus on design, testing and verification of MW-scale power electronics converters. The role involves designing and developing MW-scale power electronics converters in close cooperation with control developers, production and the laboratory. The position suits someone with a background in power electronics or relevant studies, and a desire to deepen expertise in demanding energy and electrical grid solutions. For a more experienced specialist, the responsibilities can be weighted according to expertise and interest. You will participate in the design and verification of Merus Power’s power electronic devices. You will be responsible for selecting, specifying and testing main-board components and assessing run-time performance at device level. In practice you will participate in activities such as selecting components, sizing and validation, loss simulations and double-pulse tests for efficiency, heating and electrical quality measurements, lab measurements and device-level verification, cooperating with component suppliers, production and maintenance. The work combines design, simulation and practical testing, so you will see the impact of your work on finished products. What we expect from you: analytical and systematic working approach to support success, interest in practical applications of power electronics devices. We hope you have a higher education degree in electrical engineering, energy technology or power electronics. We value studies or experience in power electronics and practical applications. You can be early in your career or an expert with a few years of experience. Your background may relate to inverters, frequency converters, energy storages or other power electronic solutions connected to the electrical grid. We expect you to be able to work in English; Finnish language skills are a plus. We also value experience in hardware design or testing of power electronics devices, component selection and sizing, laboratory measurements and verification, Matlab/Simulink or PLECS environments, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulations, and industrial energy and electrical grid solutions. Why Merus Power? Our product development is practical and proceeds from idea to testing without unnecessary layers. In this role you will see the entire product development chain up close. The work mainly takes place at the Ylöjärvi site and in the laboratory since much development relates to practical testing and device verification. The position is not suitable for fully remote work and requires regular presence at the office. We are a growing Finnish technology company with flat hierarchy, skilled people and a hands-on culture. You will have access to experienced colleagues and the opportunity to rapidly grow your skills. We offer competitive compensation, an all-hands bonus program and comprehensive employee benefits. Could this be your place? If you are interested and identify with the description, we would be happy to talk more about you, Merus Power as an employer and the job details.
