Head of Service

<p>Helsingin kaupunki seeks a head of regional art and cultural services to lead a network of services spread across the city. The unit includes regional art and cultural services at Kanneltalo, Maunula House, Malmitalo, Sto, Vuotalo, Savoy Theatre and Espan Lava. The role combines strategic leadership, understanding of the art and culture sector, and development of operations in a networked, collaborative manner with diverse stakeholders. The head is responsible for the finances and profitability of the unit and for developing operations and the workforce in line with the strategy. In the coming years, key city-strategy aligned objectives include implementing a new vision for cultural centers, developing neighbourhoods and preventing segregation through culture, evidence-based leadership, and planning and managing major facility projects. The head is a member of the cultural services management team and part of the culture and leisure division leadership, contributing to the management and development of cultural services in Helsinki. The supervisor is the city’s cultural director. Leadership is framed by the city’s core leadership values: vision, enthusiasm, consistency and execution ability. The position requires a suitable Master’s degree, excellent Finnish and English, and competent Swedish. Experience in arts and culture administration and leadership is essential, as well as proven ability to manage change and finances. A proactive, customer-oriented leadership approach and commitment to accessibility, diversity and responsible conduct are expected. The role is permanent and starts 1.1.2027 or by agreement. Salary is 7300-7700 EUR/month, with bonuses for performance. Health benefits and city bike benefit are provided. Before appointment, a health certificate must be presented.
