About the role

ReOrbit is looking for an experienced and driven Head of Payload Architecture to lead the development and execution of the next generation small GEO communication payloads. This is a critical leadership role at the heart of our payload development programmes, with responsibility spanning the full life cycle - from early mission definition through to launch, commissioning, and in-orbit operations. You will play a key role in ensuring our payloads meet the demanding requirements needed to deliver next generation space connectivity capabilities. It’s an exciting opportunity to join a fast growing company and shape both the technical direction and the team responsible the most critical part of our spacecraft. Responsibilities include driving the communication payload team, defining and maintaining robust payload architectures, owning payload performance closure, leading and mentoring engineers, ensuring requirements flow, leading trade-offs, recruiting and retaining a high-performing team, and fostering a culture of flight realism and testing discipline. Skills and requirements include 15+ years experience in satellite payload or communications system engineering, 5+ years managing engineering teams, direct responsibility for GEO communication payloads, hands-on RF/digital payload experience, proven payload performance closure, payload AIT and RF testing experience, ability to debug payload anomalies, supporting design from scratch, and a record of HTS payload implementation. Working at ReOrbit involves building a strong, inclusive, and innovative team. The role is based at HQ in Helsinki, Finland, with relocation support. ReOrbit develops software-defined, interconnected satellites for space applications, emphasizing networking and communication.
