General Practitioner

A school and child health physician is a medical expert in the growth and development of children and adolescents. You will be part of the well-being region’s community of about 40 full‑time doctors across school, child health, adolescent mental health and substance use services. The focus of the role is school health care and maternity, contraception and/or child health clinic work. The job can be tailored to the candidate’s interests across all areas. You will mostly work in Tampere with travel to other Pirkanmaa welfare area sites as needed. The aim is to support the growth and development of children and adolescents, ensure maternal well-being, and strengthen family well‑being and prevent exclusion. In addition to health checks, assessment of special support needs and arranging necessary follow‑up actions, collaboration with other family center actors is essential. As a physician you will also provide consultative support to other professionals and contribute to developing work processes. Why should you apply? The qualification required is a legally licensed physician in Finland. Proficiency in spoken and written Finnish is required. Desirable qualifications include suitable specialization in family medicine or pediatrics or adolescent medicine. Starting date is 4 January 2027 or by agreement. Trial period is six months. The position is full‑time with a weekly contract of 38 h 15 min. Part‑time is possible on a fixed‑term basis. Before starting, the selected candidate must present a police certificate as per the Police Act and provide health statements within one month of starting. Pre‑employment health check is performed at occupational health in Pirkkala. The selected candidate must have vaccination status as required by the Communicable Diseases Act and provide a document on respiratory tuberculosis as required by the Act.
