The work is paid under the private social services sector collective agreement and suits full-time, part-time, casual and on-call workers. As a personal assistant you decide how much and when you work, so the job also fits alongside another job or studies. You do not need special education for the role; the right attitude and reliability are most important. At Aarre Avustajat you receive ongoing support and guidance from your own supervisor, and you will never be left with questions. WHAT IS PERSONAL ASSISTANCE AND WHAT DOES A PERSONAL ASSISTANT DO? Personal assistance is a service where the personal assistant acts as the client’s hands and feet to carry out tasks the client would do themselves, but cannot manage alone due to disability or illness. The aim is to help the client with everyday tasks at home and outside the home. Tasks are often ordinary chores we all do in daily life. The role does not include tasks requiring a separate education such as a nursing degree; anyone can work as an assistant. Examples include helping the client in shopping, with outdoor activities, meals, cooking, dressing, hobbies or household chores. WHAT KIND OF PERSON IS SUITABLE AS AUST? We, as the employer of hundreds of personal assistants, find that the best matches are people with the right attitude toward helping others. An assistant should be reliable, positive, helpful, hardworking and people-friendly. You do not need previous relevant work experience, as every new assistant receives thorough orientation in our own Aarre Academy before starting. Experience or education in care can be beneficial for some clients. WHAT SHIFTS ARE OFFERED AND CAN I INFLUENCE THEM? Personal assistance takes place on weekdays and weekends with shifts often available from morning to evening. At Aarre Avustajat you can influence how much and when you work and for which client. We strive to match clients’ needs with assistants’ preferences so that it works for everyone. You will always have the opportunity to meet a potential new client before entering into an agreement, and if something isn’t working as you expected, we can together look for a suitable alternative. You can work as a personal assistant for as many clients as you want. APPLICATION We recruit continuously, so please fill out the application form carefully. Remember to add all municipalities where you could work so we can contact you as soon as we find a suitable client. Completing the form does not bind you to anything yet. The person who will be hired as a personal assistant must present a police background check that is less than 6 months old to the employer before starting work.
