Would you be my new assistant? I am a 22-year-old student at Aalto University and I use a power wheelchair. I lead an active student life, so if you are looking for a versatile job where no two days are the same, keep reading. My living situation will change this fall when I move to Järvenpää, which means I will need more assistants as my life centers around Helsinki and Espoo. I plan to move to Helsinki soon. My hours will vary due to studies, work, hobbies, and other activities, so shifts are varied and I will try to accommodate your preferences for start/end times and location. Schedules are prepared monthly, balancing everyone’s preferences and days off. I value openness and mutual flexibility. I have been employing assistants for four years, and I have never asked an assistant to work on a day or time they requested off. Some days are quiet, others busy; some days may involve long days with movement between places. The job includes helping with daily activities, personal care, and mobility tasks (e.g., transfers from wheelchair to bed or toilet). Travel is possible to Finland or abroad, including overnight trips if desired. A driving license is helpful but not required since I mostly use public transport or taxis. The job suits an energetic, 18+ person who enjoys working with a young adult. Good Finnish is required. No prior experience or education is required, but I hope an assistant will be proactive, follow given instructions, and fit into my social circle. The job also requires tolerance for some monotony and frequent changes in a day. If needed, we will train transfers. I am seeking one full-time or several part-time assistants; part-time hours must be at least 40 hours per month. Indicate in your application whether you want full- or part-time work and, if part-time, the weekly hours you seek. Start date is in September/October as agreed. The contract is in writing, and pay is processed by Keski-Uudenmaan hyvinvointialue after invoicing hours; base pay is 14.23 €/h (B2). Evening, night, and weekend supplements apply. I follow the HETA union collective agreement. Please email ellakarolina.nissinen@gmail.com with your application and feel free to present yourself. Interviews take place while the application window is open, and the position will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found. Interviews occur in my current home in Helsinki’s Lauttasaari, near the metro.
