Special Needs Assistant

We are hiring a school assistant for a JOPO class for grades 8–9. Working hours are 31 hours per week. We hope applicants have a cheerful and enthusiastic approach to work, a positive attitude and good cooperation skills. A JOPO class provides flexible basic education, and pupils have several work placements during the school year. The class has 12 pupils selected through the city’s selection process. The school assistant works as a partner to the JOPO class teacher. The duties are shaped according to needs and the employee’s strengths. Kukkanen Comprehensive School has about 450 pupils and operates in the Nastola area at the Nastopoli premises. Kukkanen Comprehensive School is an ordinary, pleasantly individual and development-oriented workplace and place of study, offering good conditions for delivering high-quality teaching through varied learning methods. We expect applicants to have at least a suitable upper-secondary qualification, for example school assistant training, practical nurse training specialising in children and young people, youth instructor training, or special guidance training for children and young people, or a specialist vocational qualification for school assistants. The selected applicant must present the criminal-record extract required by Act 504/2002. The selected applicant may be asked to provide a certificate concerning a drug test. The position has a three-month probationary period. The employer cannot provide work during school holiday periods that fall within the school year. These school holiday periods are unpaid leave.
