Assistant Chief Ophthalmologist

We are seeking a highly qualified ophthalmologist to lead and develop ophthalmic surgical activity in our new hospital. The Assist ant Chief Physician for the Ophthalmology Center at Ahvenisto Hospital, opening in March 2026, will be responsible for developing the surgical operations, ensuring quality and smooth running of the ophthalmic surgeries. The role includes participation in clinical work as part of a skilled multi-disciplinary team, with state-of-the-art facilities and two operating rooms (one enabling retrobulbar surgeries). The position supports a one-day procedure pathway for cataract surgeries and access to an operating and procedure unit when needed. The candidate will provide leadership for the ophthalmology department, drive improvements, and contribute to research. We value interest in leadership and development of the subspecialty, and may train the applicant in ophthalmic subspecialty if needed.
