Would you like to take part in negotiating Yle’s diverse programme content? Are you inspired by developing IPR expertise in the creative sector? We are seeking a new specialist for Yle’s Content Rights and Contracts team (“Rights”). What’s in store? Your task is to negotiate Yle’s content acquisitions in cooperation with commissioners and producers and draw up the related contracts. Your main area of responsibility is factual content in the Culture and Factual unit, and you may also be responsible for rights and contracts for Yle’s acquisitions and own productions in other content areas. You will also develop practices relating to contracts and copyright and influence your eventual job description by making use of your strengths. The work combines legal expertise, content-business knowledge and an understanding of creative content-production processes. You will join the Rights team, which includes specialists in domestic and international content rights as well as a rights manager. Together, we ensure that Yle’s content is acquired with comprehensive and appropriate rights in line with the company’s strategy. We establish rights policies, develop processes and practices relating to content rights, advise on copyright matters, draft contracts, and provide guidance and training to the organisation. We work with commitment and ambition and in a positive atmosphere. Your role is independent, but close and open cooperation with other specialists, programme commissioners and producers, departments and editorial teams in the content units, Yle’s legal and compliance functions, finance and brand departments, and external partners is essential to success. We work both remotely and on site in Pasila. The position is permanent and full-time. What do we expect from you? The role requires strong IPR and contract expertise, negotiation skills, and specialist knowledge of content rights and brands, especially copyright and trademarks. You have suitable education, for example in law, business or media, and experience in contract negotiations and drafting. We value experience gained, for example, at production companies and in programme-content sales. You have a command of copyright and understand the practical significance of IP rights in the audiovisual sector and creative environments. You can independently draft legally robust contracts and negotiate them with different partners. You can understand the logic of content business and apply your expertise to the needs of creative production in public-service broadcasting. You are familiar with, or willing to learn about, the particular features of public-service media and the principles of responsible contracting, and to develop them further. You are a natural negotiator with a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills. You are inspired by diverse content and express yourself clearly both orally and in writing. You work accurately and proactively seek solutions and new opportunities to develop operations, for example with the help of artificial intelligence. You take initiative and responsibility and are able to make independent decisions. Above all, you are a team player who communicates openly and builds good cooperation. The role requires excellent Finnish and strong English skills. Swedish is considered an advantage because the Rights team also handles content rights and contracts for Svenska Yle. Why us? You will join a proactive, solution-oriented team responsible for rights and contracts across Yle’s content units and areas, such as factual content, culture, children, young people, drama, sports and events. We offer an interesting, varied and challenging role in a rapidly changing media sector. Your work affects what kinds of Yle content people in Finland can enjoy and how we secure equal access to high-quality culture for everyone. We offer a work environment that values expertise and encourages bold collaboration in developing our operations. Here, you can do meaningful work at the heart of public service. Interested? If you are interested in the role, complete the application and attach or link your CV and cover letter no later than 25 October 2026. Interviews may begin during the application period. Diversity in our work community is important to us. We welcome applicants from different backgrounds and with different strengths. For example, taking neurodiversity into account is important to us. For further information about the role, contact Rights Manager Saila Löfström. Arrange a time for a call by text message at 040 568 5215, or send your questions by email to saila.lofstrom@yle.fi.
