The Facilities Manager leads the facilities service area in the service domain, including project development, project planning processes and the development of work environments. Responsibilities include guiding temporary space needs investigations, procurement leadership, participating in drafting the facilities investment program, and overseeing staff leadership and development within the unit. The role also covers indoor air quality processes, drafting and updating planning manuals that guide operations, and leading initial furnishing processes. The Facilities Manager often serves as a presenter when the unit's matters are discussed in city decision-making bodies or in public events. A university degree is a required qualification. The position requires knowledge of land-use and building legislation and other regulations governing construction, along with strong expertise in lifecycle management of facilities from project development to maintenance. Experience in leading facility projects is required. Proficiency in Finnish (written and spoken) is essential, as well as the ability to conceptualize large wholes, strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to produce clear presentations and perform well in public speaking. A health examination confirming fitness for the role must be provided before taking up the position. A security clearance may be conducted with the candidate’s consent.
