Engineering Supply Chain Manager (Mechanical) Location: Espoo, Finland. Department: Global Supply Chain. Reports to: R&D Supply Chain Manager. Employment type: Permanent. Workplace model: Office/On-site. Employment is subject to applicable security screening (including SUPO, where required). The Mission As Engineering Supply Chain Manager (Mechanical), you will join the fast-moving Global Supply Chain organization and work closely with hardware engineering teams designing and building mechanical systems and structures on tight, changing timelines. You will help execute engineering projects and stay ahead of supply by identifying long-lead items, critical materials and complex parts early and securing them before they become bottlenecks for testing and builds. You will act when machining capacity, material availability, special-process queues or late design changes threaten prototype schedules. Development cycles are fast and iterations constant. You will connect Engineering and Production, communicating R&D supply risks and critical parts and materials to Production before handover. Your work supports engineering prototype iterations and prepares Production for rollout and mass production. The role calls for a proactive, solution-oriented person with deep understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes, materials and hardware prototyping, comfortable with ambiguity and acting before problems arise. ICEYE is a world leader in sovereign intelligence from space, delivering persistent monitoring to detect and respond to changes anywhere on Earth. It owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR satellite constellation and provides customers with high-quality intelligence, latency and revisit times in any weather, day or night. It also provides governments with a proven sovereign system. ICEYE-built constellations serve defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency-management customers. Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with more than 1,000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. Day-to-day responsibilities High-velocity engineering support: Serve as the supply-chain counterpart for fast-paced mechanical engineering teams across evolving hardware projects. Identify and proactively secure long-lead items, critical raw materials and complex parts through early orders, reservations, capacity bookings, buffer stock, coating readiness and securing helicoils. Turn early concepts, evolving bills of materials and design changes into sourcing actions; provide real-time material and component availability and quick-turn manufacturing options; identify supply issues and propose workarounds. Rapid sourcing and procurement: Own project procurement of CNC-machined and composite parts, structural elements, mechanisms, motors, fasteners, bearings, thermal hardware and raw materials, including heat treatment, surface treatments and coatings. Obtain quotes and select suppliers so parts arrive on engineering's committed dates. Find alternative suppliers, processes or materials quickly when capacity or materials are short. Set stock levels and material availability plans for development and prototype builds. Supplier interaction: Work with machine shops, composite fabricators, special-process providers and material distributors to understand lead-time constraints, capabilities, design-for-manufacture implications and fast-track options. Support technical capability assessments, negotiate priority machine time and expedited processing and shipments, and secure prototypes on compressed timelines. Cross-functional collaboration: Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, program management and operations to remove obstacles and maintain build readiness. Track prototype schedules, engineering changes and material risks, communicating clearly and frequently. Take action to resolve unclear, broken or missing items. Agility, risk and improvement: Maintain a live view of supply risks across active projects, including capacity constraints, raw material availability, single-source suppliers, special-process bottlenecks and export restrictions, and qualify alternatives early. Maintain accurate purchasing details, traceability and build-readiness status in the ERP system. Test new suppliers, sourcing channels, manufacturing partners and tools to reduce lead times and cost. R&D to production readiness: Communicate R&D supply risks and critical parts and materials to Production early. Support rapid prototype iterations and prepare Production for rollout and mass production. Ensure critical and long-lead parts, qualified suppliers and special processes, realistic lead times and capacity are in place before designs enter series production. Build sourcing foundations for repeatable production. Requirements: At least five years of direct experience in mechanical sourcing, procurement or engineering supply-chain roles in fast-moving hardware environments; strong procurement understanding of machined and composite parts, special processes, engineering materials and prototyping flows; ability to work with tight deadlines, shifting priorities, incomplete information and rapid cycles; hands-on purchasing and materials management through an ERP system; confident commercial and technical negotiation and ability to influence engineers, program managers and suppliers without formal authority; strong communication, problem-solving and negotiation abilities. Desirable: experience in space, aerospace, defence, hardware startups or deep-tech R&D; mechanical engineering background, CAD knowledge and understanding of designs; experience taking hardware from prototype to series production; existing relationships with machine shops, fabricators, special-process providers and material distributors; familiarity with rapid-prototyping suppliers and global component marketplaces. Application process: Talent Acquisition interview, Hiring Manager interview, task stage, task-based interview and final interview. Working at ICEYE: A diverse, highly engaged team shares the ambition to make the impossible possible. As a global scale-up, ICEYE combines speed and ambition with ownership from day one.
