Job Description
The Raahen Parish is hiring for the position of youth worker. Raahen Parish is a community of approximately 20,000 members in Northern Ostrobothnia. The parish has a long and strong tradition of youth work, but we are constantly seeking to develop and create new ways to live as Christians together with children and youth. Currently, our early youth and youth work team includes eight youth workers. The parish's strong emphasis on youth work is reflected, for example, in the construction of a new modern camp center. The duties of the position include, among others: early youth and youth work, especially in the Siikajoki and Vihanti areas; confirmation camp work; recruiting, training, and guiding volunteers; organizing camps, events, and trips; collaborating with municipalities, schools, and organizations; participating in regional events and church services; planning activities and finances with the team; communication tasks related to your areas of responsibility; and other tasks assigned by the supervisor. The position is based at the Ruukki Parish House. We especially value strong musical skills and previous experience in church youth work. This is a spiritual position under the Employment Contracts Act (Section 2) and the Church's collective agreement (Section 140), and it is not subject to the Working Hours Act. The work includes evening, weekend, and camp work. The position requires the use of a personal car. Candidates must hold a degree and studies in accordance with the decision of the Church Council (Church Regulations Collection No. 164), Sections 2-3, or a degree and studies in accordance with Section 4. Previous degrees or training recognized by the Church Council or the Bishop's Conference will be considered as specified in Section 7, paragraph 3 of the regulation. The salary is based on the church's general salary system, demanding group 502, with a base salary of €2,879.38/month plus possible experience allowance. In addition to salary, we offer benefits such as sports, culture, and wellness benefits, support for professional development through training, and extensive occupational health services and modern work tools. The preferred starting date is early September. The selected candidate must be a confirmed member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland and must provide a medical certificate of health and a criminal record extract as required by law before starting. The position includes a six-month probation period. The vacancy is open on the KirkkoRekry service until August 7, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Interviews will be held on August 12, 2026.
