About the role

Workato is a leading enterprise integration and automation platform, recognized for its flexible, trust-based culture and emphasis on ownership. This internship in Communications supports office operations, events, onboarding, and external engagement while you learn in a fast-paced team environment. Responsibilities include office operations support, coordination of team meals and events, logistics for off-sites, onboarding of new staff, equipment requests, and preparing simple meeting materials. Requirements include interest and experience in communications, digital marketing, public relations, or related fields; strong storytelling, writing, and presentation skills; experience with digital content creation and basic website/tools like WordPress, Canva, Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoom are a plus. You should be able to work at the Tokyo Station office 1–2 days per week, have strong time management, adaptability, and professional discretion; English native level and Japanese daily business proficiency (JLPT N2 or higher) are expected. Language: English and Japanese required; soft skills include reliability, ownership, communication, organization, adaptability, and integrity. Minimum commitment: 6–12 months; weekly hours: 15+ during term, 30+ during school breaks.

Requirements

  • Relevant training, degree, or experience in communications, digital marketing, public relations, business, public policy, technology, entrepreneurship, or a related field
  • Strong storytelling, research, writing, and presentation skills, with an interest in thought leadership, entrepreneurship, and Japan’s technology and innovation ecosystem
  • Experience or strong interest in digital content creation; Familiarity with website management, including WordPress updates, social media, website copy, and basic UI/UX principles is a plus.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, and Slides) and social-media platforms; familiarity with graphic design tools like Canva, basic web coding and Wordpress, AI productivity tools, Slack, and Zoom is a plus.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Able to work from the Tokyo Station office 1–2 days per week
  • Relevant experience through student organisations, marketing, PR, content creation, events, government, entrepreneurship, or business communities is beneficial but not required
  • Language Proficiency Requirement: Native-level proficiency in English; Native or business-fluent Japanese (JLPT N1 preferred)
