Job Description
We are seeking a full-time hourly teacher of Finnish language and literature for Harjuniitty School in the City of Nokia for a fixed term from August 4 to November 30, 2026. ABOUT HARJUNIITTY SCHOOL Founded in 2015, Harjuniitty comprehensive school has approximately 930 students and is located on the west side of Nokia in a scenic ridge landscape. It is easily accessible by public transport (Nysse) or by car. In addition to general education, we offer emphasized teaching in a LUMA class (grades 7-9). A permanent community instructor also works at the school to support students. Our school's values are appreciative encounters and a healthy, safe working community. We have received feedback that Harjuniitty is a pleasant place to work, that induction is emphasized, and that new people are well integrated into the large community. Our goal is to enable a balanced daily life with room for leisure, hobbies, and meaningful work. Here, you can genuinely influence children's well-being according to your own strengths. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR The primary focus of the position is teaching Finnish language and literature in lower secondary school, but you must also be able to accommodate S2 students in your teaching. You will work in cooperation with other teachers and school assistants to ensure that every student receives the necessary support. Therefore, we expect a willingness and ability to work in a team as well as experience in language teaching. Knowledge of digital learning environments in a modern AV environment is considered an advantage. In addition to expertise in Finnish language and literature and work experience, we are looking for a person who is solution-oriented, positive towards development, and sees opportunities around them. You should have a desire to share your expertise with others. You are open to co-teaching and/or simultaneous teaching. WHAT WE OFFER At Harjuniitty, you will become part of a large working community. We will provide induction for your new job, and supervisors will support your work. As a new employee, you will be assigned a mentor whose task is to help you get acquainted with the school's operating methods and common practices. You will join a team of three teachers of Finnish language and literature, whose task is to guide you in the language teaching practices, textbook series, etc., at Harjuniitty School. Additionally, our school has school-wide theme teams where you can hopefully utilize your strengths. Harjuniitty School has been granted Erasmus+ accreditation. Erasmus+ provides the opportunity for the entire staff, in addition to students, to participate in international activities if they wish. Noticing the good and genuine encounters between members of our community are the foundation of our operations. ELIGIBILITY AND SALARY Eligibility requirements for the position are determined in accordance with Decree No. 986/98 on the eligibility requirements for teaching staff. Remuneration is determined according to Ovtes, and the City of Nokia's TVA table based on work demand assessment is also taken into account. Before accepting the position, the selected candidate must present a criminal record extract in accordance with the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002). Detailed instructions will be provided to the selected candidate upon the selection decision. In the absence of qualified applicants, we will also consider unqualified applicants.
