Rock Mechanics Engineer

We are seeking a Rock Mechanics Engineer for the Kittilä gold mine. In this role you will be part of the rock mechanics team ensuring a stable and safe production in an underground mine. Your duties include making rock mechanical observations and reporting them in the mine in cooperation with the rock mechanics team; planning, monitoring and quality control of rock mass excavation in collaboration with the production team; supporting the production and mine design teams on rock mechanics considerations; development and installation work of rock mechanical instrumentation in collaboration with the rock mechanics team. The position is permanent, full-time daytime work primarily on-site at our mine site in Kiistala. We expect: a university degree in a relevant field (e.g., rock construction, civil engineering, rock mechanics), previous experience in mining or rock construction or structural geology, 3D modelling and CAD as an advantage (we are mainly seeking an experienced candidate but are open to early-career applicants); ability to cope with pressure in a changing work environment and work independently; fluent Finnish and English.
