About the role

We are seeking an early years teacher for a fixed-term position starting August 31 at Silkkiniityn Daycare. Our daycare has six groups, two of which are preschool groups. One preschool group operates as a Swedish-language immersion group. The current vacancy is in a group of children under three years old. We are a supportive and development-oriented daycare that prioritizes staff well-being; humor and collaborative work are important to us. The work community is open, encouraging and accessible. Our unit operates with an assistant director model, with the director and assistant director supporting the staff. It is important for us as supervisors that everyone has the opportunity to make an impactful contribution. The role is supported by a broad-specialist teacher. Our daycare emphasizes child participation, community, and warm, respectful encounters. We actively utilize the nearby environment and nature. Our location in Tapiola center offers many opportunities for easy access and cultural experiences with children. Our daycare yard has also been renovated this year. If these aspects excite you, you will fit in excellently. We offer a mentoring program to support you as you begin your early childhood teaching career. Under the mentoring group, Espoo’s early education will become familiar to you, helping you recognize your strengths and skills, and contributing to your professional growth and well-being. You will have discussions with an experienced mentor about the joys and challenges of early career work, and meet other early childhood teachers starting out in the field. The job site is Silkkiniityn Daycare, Opinkuja 1, 02100 Espoo. Working hours: 38 h 15 min/week. The position is fixed-term for the period 31.8.–31.5.2027. Applications will be reviewed as they come in, and interviews will be held during the application period. We will make a selection as soon as a suitable candidate is found. Please apply as soon as possible! Eligibility: According to the Varhaiskasvatuslaki (540/2018). At least a Bachelor’s degree in education including preschool teacher training, or a higher education degree in social and health care (preschool education) or an equivalent vocational qualification such as lastentarhanopettaja or sosiaalikasvattaja (Law 272/2005 and Decree 608/2005). Newly graduating early childhood teachers are also considered. The successful applicant must present a criminal background check (rikosrekisteriote) as required by law. Tuberculosis risk assessment is required for those working with under-6s. We value the ability to interact with children and their parents in an individualized, respectful and sensitive manner. We also value good teamwork and the motivation to continuously develop our daycare’s practices. Welcome to join Espoo’s early childhood education to grow a responsible and caring new generation!
