The City of Helsinki is launching professional support person activities on September 1, 2026. We are seeking an enthusiastic Social Instructor for our new team within the children's social welfare services, operating city-wide. The primary responsibility is to support the daily lives of youth aged 12-17 and help them overcome everyday challenges. The work is temporary, rehabilitative, coaching-oriented, planned, and goal-driven, with objectives set together with the youth, their family, and social work, evaluated every three months. The role is practical and takes place in the youth's own environment to support their functional capacity, daily skills, and inclusion. The work considers the youth's entire family and network, and may be performed in the evenings based on client needs. As the team is entirely new, the employee will have the opportunity to influence the work and develop working methods from the start. Responsibilities
- Support the daily lives of youth aged 12-17 and help them overcome everyday challenges
- Perform rehabilitative, coaching, and goal-oriented work
- Set goals together with the youth, their family, and social services
- Evaluate goal progress every three months
- Work in the youth's own environment to support functional capacity and daily skills
- Consider the youth's entire family and network in the work process
- Work evenings based on client needs
- Influence the development of working methods in the new team
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social services (e.g., Social Work AMK, Rehabilitation Instructor AMK)
- Registration in the Valvira professional register
- Good oral and written skills in Finnish and Swedish
- Occupational health assessment of ability to perform tasks
- Drug test certificate
- Vaccination protection and tuberculosis clearance
- Criminal record extract for working with children
- Experience in professional support work, family work under the Social Welfare Act, or children's mental health work
- Experience working with children and youth in multidisciplinary networks
- Client-respecting and appreciative working style
- Good interaction and community skills with a reflective approach
- Development-oriented and resource-focused approach
