We are developing and building a new management structure for daycares in Helsinki's early childhood education to strengthen well-being at work and the implementation of pedagogical leadership. As an assistant director, you lead the early childhood education and pre-primary education of the unit in accordance with laws, decrees, and city strategic guidelines together with the daycare director. Your job description includes the planning, implementation, evaluation, and development of pedagogical work in accordance with early childhood education and pre-primary education plans. You act as the operational partner of the daycare director and ensure the smooth daily operation of the unit. In personnel management, you are responsible for the structures of orientation and lead the implementation of the orientation plan, and participate in daily personnel arrangements. Additionally, you participate in the management of shift planning and recruitment together with the director. The task is versatile and requires organizational skills. We require that you have the eligibility in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or, according to the transitional provision (§ 75), a bachelor's degree in educational sciences (lto), a suitable university of applied sciences degree, or a previous equivalent institute-level degree, e.g., a kindergarten teacher's or social educator's degree (Act 272/2005 and Decree No. 608/2005). Eligibility is also met by a recognition decision made by the National Agency for Education based on foreign education for the position applied for. In addition, we require good oral and written skills in Finnish. The selected person must present a valid criminal record extract for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for the respiratory system for those working with children under school age is checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). Experience in assistant director positions is considered an advantage.
