Software Development Engineer

Role We are looking for a Staff Software Development Engineer to join our team. This is a Hybrid (3 days / week) role, reporting to the Director, Software Development Engineering in the AI Security department. The engineer will own features end-to-end across the full stack, from React UI to Spring Boot microservices to cloud-native infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes. What you’ll do (Role Expectations) Build full-stack features across React UI, Spring Boot microservices, and cloud-native infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes Design REST APIs and event-driven Kafka services within a microservices architecture Own features end-to-end, including logging, observability, and cross-functional collaboration with UX and PM Who You Are (Success Profile) You act like an owner. What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications) Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions to optimize outcomes within your functional domain 5+ years of software development experience Proficiency in Java with Spring Boot; strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills with ReactJS and state management libraries Experience designing and consuming REST APIs in a microservices architecture Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms Familiarity with containerized deployments on Kubernetes and core AWS services What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications) Experience developing security guardrails, secure coding practices, or observability features for AI/ML orchestration layers and LLM applications Experience building enterprise-grade security or networking products using PostgreSQL or Elasticsearch Unit testing experience with React Testing Library, Jest, or Mocha, alongside familiarity with modern JS build tooling such as Webpack or Vite #LI-hybrid #LI-KM8 At Zscaler, we are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve and the customers we work with.
