Early Years Teacher

Porvoo City’s early education services seek a fixed-term Early Childhood Teacher for 7 Sep 2026–31 Jul 2027 or start date by agreement. Primary location is Hinthaaran Daycare in a group for under-3s. The daycare is near nature; we organize forest trips, explore our environment, move and learn. The school sports field invites diverse physical activity. Our daycare operates in two languages and is a rich resource for us. The facilities are functional and inviting for play and learning. As an Early Childhood Teacher you are responsible for teaching, upbringing and care of the child group and participate in developing the unit’s pedagogy. Together with your team you plan, implement, evaluate and develop the group activities. You also collaborate with daycare assistants and guardians, and contribute to the child’s participation in activities. The role requires strong pedagogical skills, a sensitive and respectful approach to children and guardians, teamwork, planning, organizing and evaluating your own and the team’s work, and readiness for team leadership and smooth coordination. We value good collaboration and interaction skills, functional workplace skills, flexible attitude, enthusiasm to develop activities with the team, digital skills supporting planning, documentation and communication. In addition to the team and supervisor there are early education experts and a special education teacher. Porvoo is piloting an assistant principal model. A qualification under the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) is required. Working hours are 38.25 h/week. Salary follows OVtes level pay; a qualifying salary is 3099.60–3212.86 €/month. A qualification allowance of 15 €/month is paid in addition. Before finalizing selection, a criminal record check and a TB screening are required.
