About the role

Iittalan Kotikulma Oy is a domestic family business. With us, you have a genuine opportunity to engage in dialogue and develop operations; decisions are made at the same tables where ideas are born. We have invested in developing work together. Team support and collaboration are evident in everyday work! The Askel unit of Iittalan Kotikulma is a 7-place basic-level children's home. Askel was built on the frameworks established by our previous units, Iittalan Kotikulma and Harmonia Nuutajärvi, and its roots began in 2005 with the child welfare institution Viialan Kotikolo, which is also part of Iittalan Kotikulma. Based on our unit's professional and experiential capabilities, we are able to provide services for children aged approximately 5–17 in need of foster care. Work experience in child welfare is required. The selected person must present a criminal record extract as required for those working with children according to Section 6, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Records Act (770/1993). At Askel, we work by considering the individuality of each child. It is important for us to create a confidential relationship with the child. As a lead instructor, you will also work as a primary instructor. Instructors at Askel have the opportunity to utilize their own strengths extensively in both independent work and as part of a team. At the core of our operations is the creation of a basic secure everyday life, framing life, and identifying disturbances and emotional experiences related to previous attachment relationships. Our everyday life is built on gathered routines that we learn together with the children. A child's participation in daily routines is scaled to their skill level rather than their numerical age. Our activities are based on active rehabilitation of children and strong emotional work. We use various art- and culture-based methods as tools, and environmental and nature education are basic themes of our everyday life. The Askel facilities in Juupajoki have their own swimming pool, and the immediate environment enables various athletic hobbies. We emphasize the importance of interaction skills within the work community. Community education is a basic element of our work, which we strive to refine so that it meets the personal needs of each individual as accurately as possible, considering all elements needed for understanding. By a rehabilitative approach to work, we mean personal participation in sharing everyday life and close collaboration. The goal is for giving and receiving feedback to happen safely in both directions and learning together. Discussing difficult matters is also part of goal-oriented work, where safety is achieved through sufficient presence and expertise. An open line of communication is often the most effective channel for a respectful approach. Although our educational approach is adult-led, this also means that adults agree to grow together with the clients, recognize their own development challenges, and correct their actions if necessary. We strive to create a community where making mistakes is allowed and where the community structures are strong enough to provide confidence that it is safe for everyone to be a member of the community despite any possible challenges. In the basic unit, the lead instructor's job description is primarily to act as a partner to the education director; areas of responsibility are agreed upon on a case-by-case basis, also utilizing strengths. Substituting for the education director when necessary and during holidays is part of the job description. Experience and expertise in child welfare must be present in addition to training. A nurse may additionally be responsible for medication management, for which there is a separate additional compensation. Visit our websites https://www.askeljuupajoki.fi/ https://iittalankotikulma.fi/ http://viialankotikolo.com/ https://www.harmonianuutajarvi.fi/ The position can be filled quickly, so feel free to apply. We do not require a CV for the application, but please briefly describe your work history, training, etc. Contact us so we can talk and get to know each other. Work can start by agreement on August 17th. The work is focused on evenings and nights; children are in school on weekdays. The lead instructor's focus in shifts is during the time children are present, except for substituting for the education director in morning shifts. On weekends and during school holidays, there is also the possibility to work longer 11-13 hour shifts. Further information can be provided by education director Tomi Havinen starting August 2nd after returning from leave: 0442410347 tomihavinen.askeljuupajoki@gmail.com
