About the role

We are looking in Kerava for a temporary assistant in early childhood education to join Kanniston day care center for the period 01.09.2026–31.05.2027. Join us in Kerava to work alongside a dynamic team in a developing early childhood education setting and in pre-school education. The assistant in early childhood education supports a child in daily routines according to the early childhood education plan, enabling the child to participate equally in group activities, and supports and promotes the child’s growth, learning, and wellbeing as required by the Early Childhood Education Act. The role requires basic knowledge about child development and the needs of supported children, as well as proactive information-seeking, sensitivity, good interaction skills, adaptability, and readiness to support planned educational work for the child. The job requires both psychological and physical capacity to support diverse child development. The role calls for good interpersonal skills and acceptance of diversity. At Kerava, we develop together with the preschool director and educational support staff such as special education teachers and language/cultural teachers and family workers, plus a large group of assistants. We have effective tools for evaluating and developing the quality of early childhood education. The required education is a Vocational Qualification or Specialist Vocational Qualification. Pay and other terms are determined according to KVTES. A four-month probation period applies. If suitable applicants are not found, we also consider students and candidates without formal qualifications. Before starting, the successful applicant must present a criminal background check as required by law. A tuberculosis screening is required for those working with underage children.
