
Lead Technical Operative
Lead Technical Operative - Mechanical Bias. A facilities management site in Manchester requires an experienced Lead Technical Operative with strong leadership and a background in mechanical building services. The role involves leading the site engineering team, ensuring planned preventive maintenance and reactive tasks are completed, troubleshooting plant faults, managing spares, producing method statements and risk assessments, and supporting the Technical Manager with plant and equipment issues. The position offers a salary of £43,000 per annum, 24 days of holiday, life cover, discounts, gym and cycle-to-work schemes, CSR days, learning opportunities, an employee referral scheme, and an Employee Assistance Programme. The candidate should have City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher, approximately 5–10 years of experience in a FM environment, and full UK driving license, among other qualifications.
Job Details
Responsibilities
- Lead the site engineering team and be the engineering champion on site
- Ensure building services optimisation to achieve and maintain environmental conditions
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules and CAFM
- Complete reactive tasks and identify areas for improvement
- Remedy plant faults to keep equipment in service
- Troubleshoot issues impacting internal conditions (cooling, heating, ventilation)
- Ensure spare parts are available
- Provide parts lists and timescales
- Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments
- Assist HMCTS Technical manager with plant and equipment issues
- Maintain safe working environment with PPE
- Keep plant logs up to date
- Supervise subcontractors
- Ensure KPI/SLA compliance
- Carry out other tasks as directed
- Participate in 24/7 maintenance cover
- Provide engineering support in emergencies
Requirements
- BPSS clearance
- Circa 5-10 years relevant experience as Mechanical Engineer within FM
- City and Guilds - Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher
- Competent Person Mechanical and Pressure Systems (CPMPS)
- 5-10 years in a similar demanding role
- IPAF
- PLASMA
- Full UK Driving Licence
