Sports facilities caretaker

Lieksa city, through the City Environment Services area, is seeking a caretaker for sports facilities to a diverse and responsible role starting 1 October 2026 or by agreement. The caretaker will look after Lieksa’s diverse sports facilities, their maintenance and safety throughout the year. The caretaker’s duties include maintenance and upkeep of municipal sports facilities such as: ice hall maintenance, sports hall maintenance, tennis court maintenance, sports field maintenance, swimming beach upkeep, frisbee golf course upkeep, outdoor area maintenance, ski trail maintenance, hiking trails and cabins upkeep, ensuring safety and cleanliness of facilities, various repair, construction, maintenance tasks, and operation and maintenance of machines and equipment. Tasks vary with the seasons. Work is practical and diverse, offering opportunity to work in different environments and with different machines, devices and tools. The job offers a chance to utilise and develop one’s skills across maintenance tasks in sports facilities, machines, devices and building work. The role requires prior experience in sports facilities maintenance and broad practical know-how in maintenance, plus at least a Class B driving license. A relevant vocational qualification in sports facilities maintenance or similar training is appreciated. We expect candidates to have broad practical know-how, problem-solving ability and willingness to take on varied tasks. We value someone who can work with hands and independently resolve situations related to maintenance and upkeep of sports facilities. We expect broad knowledge of sports facilities maintenance, experience with seasonal upkeep, good machine operation skills, maintenance skills, carpentry abilities, construction and repair know-how, metalworking and welding skills, ability to work independently on maintenance tasks, initiative, responsibility and thoroughness, good teamwork and ability to work independently, good physical condition, willingness to work outdoors in varying weather, and willingness to work in two shifts and on weekends. Salary at start of employment is 2339.05 €/month plus potential experience-based allowance and a personal supplement based on performance.
