We seek a new permanent preschool teacher who is skilled in interacting with children and can contribute to our professional, child-sensitive team. Your role as a preschool teacher will be in the Eskari-Viskariryhmä for the coming term. The team includes another preschool teacher, a daycare nurse, and a group-specific assistant. Ruuti is located in Kontula in a nature-friendly area with good transport links. Nearby are recreation areas such as Lampi playground, Kulttuurimylly, library, nearby forest, and sports park. We expect pedagogical sensitivity and that a child's growth is supported with positive pedagogy, emphasizing the individual needs and abilities of each child. We expect from the selected candidate good interaction skills, enthusiastic work attitude and strong commitment to group work and team work. Our unit focuses strongly on city strategy goals and our pedagogy emphasizes peer and emotional skills as well as language learning and reading readiness. We provide support from the unit's special education teacher and unit's economist and a need-based preschool teacher and deputy head. Our unit ranked among Helsinki’s best in Kunta10 and Fiilari surveys with a school grade of 9.5. For all staff meeting the degree requirements, we pay a regional equity allowance of 150 €/month until 31.10.2026 to prevent regional disparities in early education. As a preschool teacher you are responsible for building your group’s culture and learning environment, planning, implementing, developing, and evaluating pedagogical activities and supporting each child’s individual learning in accordance with Helsinki's early education plan and unit plan. Requirements: you must have eligibility under the Early Childhood Education Act and a Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent, or recognition of foreign qualifications. You must also be eligible to provide preschool education. Good Finnish speaking and writing skills are required. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check. A TB check is required for those working with preschool children. When starting a permanent contract in 2026 we offer a 2000 Euro incentive, paid once. Requirements
- Eligibility under the Finnish Varhaiskasvatuslaki (540/2018) or transitional provisions (75 §) with a Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent, or an approved alternative such as a teacher’s or social educator degree.
- Eligibility to provide preschool education.
- Good Finnish oral and written skills.
- Valid criminal background check.
- TB clearance for respiratory tuberculosis for under‑school children caretakers.
