Librarian

We are seeking a library professional for Kokkolan kaupunginkirjasto (Kokkola City Library) for a versatile and people-centered role in the main library’s adult department. The duties include standard library professional tasks and customer service, as well as: encouraging adults to read; home library service and its development in network cooperation; presenting adult collections in diverse channels as part of the library’s information team; presenting library services to city senior activity actors in collaboration with them; ideation of projects aimed at adults; promoting literacy work for adults within the library’s literacy team; participating in the library’s interlibrary loan service; this role requires a professional degree or a suitable university degree including or supplemented by at least 60 credits (35 study weeks) in library and information science. We value good teamwork and communication skills, independent work approach, strong Finnish language skills and willingness to serve customers in Swedish and English. Prior library experience is a plus. Working hours are 36.25 hours per week. It is shift-based work including morning and evening shifts and Saturdays. The librarian works mainly at the main library’s adult department and, when needed, at other Kokko (Kokkola) library locations. Salary is determined according to KVTES, 2KIR50A1. The job-specific salary is 2,533.17 euros per month, with possible experience allowance. Probation period is 6 months.
